First Solar has developed the industry's first comprehensive, pre-funded module collection and recycling program.

First Solar practices a "pay as you go" policy with regards to the collection and recycling program. At the time each module is sold, sufficient funding is set aside to meet the estimated collection and recycling costs of each module at the end of its useful life. The funds are placed into a restricted investment account, controlled by a major international insurance company. This ensures funding will be available for collection and recycling regardless of First Solar's financial status. The collection and recycling program is pre-funded in an effort to make the process as convenient as possible for end-users, encouraging the maximum amount of user participation.
